Job Description

Accru Melbourne is a well-established accounting and financial advisory firm delivering tailored solutions to SMEs and growing businesses across Australia. The firm is seeking an Intermediate Business Services Accountant to support client compliance, reporting, and advisory needs.

The Role

This full-time role suits an accountant with solid hands-on experience in business services who is ready to take ownership of client work while developing advisory capabilities under senior supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS for SME clients
  • Assist clients with GST, PAYG, and compliance obligations
  • Manage client accounts and maintain accurate financial records
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
  • Liaise directly with clients to resolve accounting and compliance queries
  • Assist senior accountants with advisory and consulting assignments
  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and ATO requirements
  • Maintain documentation and working papers to audit-ready standards

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years Australian experience in public practice accounting
  • Experience preparing tax returns, BAS, and financial statements
  • Proficiency with Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks
  • Strong working knowledge of Income Tax and GST
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Progress toward or completion of CA or CPA qualifications preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
  • Professional communication and client-facing skills
