Understanding What Information to Share on CareerFinders

When applying for jobs, it’s not always clear which details will strengthen your application—and which are better left out.

It’s important to be thoughtful about the personal information you include. Some details are considered sensitive and should only be shared if they’re directly requested, clearly relevant to the role, or required for legal or compliance reasons.

What is sensitive information?

Sensitive information includes personal details that, if accessed or misused, could lead to risks such as identity theft, fraud, or financial loss. Examples include:

  • Passport or ID numbers
  • Copies or photos of identity documents
  • Bank account details
  • Tax file numbers or government-issued IDs

Even partial information can create vulnerabilities. Sharing such data too early may also unintentionally influence the hiring process or introduce bias.

Stay safe with your data

CareerFinders strongly encourages you to protect your personal information. Only provide sensitive data when it’s absolutely necessary and directly relevant to the job application or legal requirements.

If you’re ever unsure, check the employer’s request carefully or reach out for clarification before sharing sensitive documents.

Your privacy matters—and we're here to support a secure job search experience.

Reporting Suspicious Job Ads on CareerFinders

If you come across a job listing on CareerFinders that seems suspicious or potentially fraudulent, it's important to report it immediately so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

What to Do:

  1. Do not share any personal or financial information with the advertiser.
  2. Take a screenshot or note key details like the job title and company name.
  3. Click the “Report this job” link (usually located on the job ad page), or
  4. Contact CareerFinders Support directly with the following:
    • A link to the job ad (if available)
    • A brief explanation of your concerns
    • Any screenshots or supporting evidence

Why Reporting Matters:

Reporting suspicious job ads helps protect all job seekers from scams, phishing attempts, and identity theft. CareerFinders thoroughly reviews all reports and takes violations of our terms of use seriously.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts — it’s always better to report than to risk your safety.

The information in your CareerFinders profile helps us match you with the most relevant job opportunities. These matches are shared through personalized emails and on-site recommendations tailored to your skills, experience, and career goals.

We also keep you informed with updates on job market trends, profile improvement tips, and insights to help you unlock your full career potential.

Keeping your profile current increases your chances of being discovered by the right employers at the right time.

Tracking Your Job Applications on Search Talents

You can easily view the jobs you've applied for — and, where possible, see if an employer has viewed your application — by visiting the Applied Jobs page.

To check your applications:

Sign in to your Search Talents account

Click your name in the top right corner

Select Applied Jobs from the dropdown menu
Here, you'll find a list of jobs you've applied for in the past three months.

Note: If the employer directed you to complete the application on their own website, you won’t see your resume or cover letter in your Search Talent application summary — only the job ad will appear.

Does Search Talent have access to my application details?

Search Talent simply acts as a bridge between job seekers and employers. Once you submit your application, it goes directly to the employer. Search Talent doesn’t access or review applications and is not involved in the recruitment process.

If you want to follow up on your application, you’ll need to contact the employer directly.
