Job Description

As a Food Prep Assistant at Subway, you’ll be responsible for ensuring fresh ingredients are prepared daily and ready for service. You’ll support the kitchen team by maintaining hygiene standards, prepping vegetables, meats, and breads, and ensuring everything is stocked and stored correctly.


 Key Responsibilities

  • Wash, chop, peel, and prepare raw ingredients (fruits, vegetables, meats, etc.)
  • Assist in basic cooking tasks like portioning, seasoning, and assembling dishes
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • Label and store ingredients properly to maintain freshness
  • Keep prep stations, tools, and work areas clean and organized
  • Assist chefs/cooks in plating, packaging, or garnishing dishes
  • Monitor inventory and restock basic kitchen supplies when needed
  • Dispose of waste and operate kitchen equipment (cutters, slicers, etc.) safely
  • Help with receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries
  • Follow instructions from head chef or kitchen supervisor
 
Skills & Requirements
  • Prior kitchen or food-handling experience (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene & safety practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Good teamwork and listening skills
  • Physically able to stand for long hours and lift light items
  • Willingness to learn cooking and kitchen operations
  • Flexibility to work weekends, mornings, or evening shifts
